PMU procedures require superficial perforations(punctures) to the skin. Anytime the skin is wounded, it has to heal itself and there are certain risks during this healing process. Because these risks could be serious, there are certain individuals who should not receive permanent makeup services. Prior to working on a client, an artist must have a thorough knowledge of contraindications (reasons for a person to not receive a procedure or treatment) and if any apply to the client. While it is impossible to know every possible contraindication, there are several that are common.
